About 120 residential buildings in Juzjan province burned down due to natural fire. The Taliban* declared that this was the work of the genies.
MAZARI-SHARIF, August 13 - Sangar, Qari Ahmad. Some women and children who saw strange objects and creatures lost consciousness and were hospitalized.
A local Taliban police spokesman told the Sangar website that the incident took place in the village of Bala Murdiyan, Faizabad district, Juzjan province.
“In the past 24 hours alone (August 11), 17 houses of residents spontaneously caught fire. Today, four houses caught fire in an hour. Fire devours all the property of people, and kills domestic animals. The inhabitants of this village suffered huge material and financial losses. Many people continue to flee this village and move to another place," the source said.
One of the residents of this village told Sangar that a terrible situation had developed, women and children, who saw strange objects and creatures, lost consciousness and are now hospitalized.
“For the first time, they saw bleeding wounded soldiers of the former government army who set fire to houses. Later, they saw creatures with long black hair. When they were fired upon, they disappeared. Some appear in the form of celestial beings that can be seen in foreign films. One child said that someone entered the house, we went and saw that there was no one there, but then a fire started spontaneously. These creatures are only seen by children and women, not by men,” he said.
Journalist Abdullah Hiradmand, who was in this village, said that during the filming in the village of Bala Murdiyan around 14.10 on August 10, he personally witnessed how a fire broke out and the house caught fire.
“I was with Qari Nurullah Musafir, the head of the social affairs department, and his bodyguard. For filming, we entered the house, which burned down from a natural fire. As soon as we entered the house, there was a fire, but there was no one there”, he wrote.
At the same time, the mullahs of the district directly blamed the jinn for these fires and stated that the locals had sinned in the past, but did not repent and did not seek forgiveness for their actions, and now God was offended by them.
On August 10, the chief of security and other representatives of the local Taliban government ordered the "Khatmi Qur'on" ceremony, the collective recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers, but it did not work: that day, four houses caught fire within an hour.
Domullo Shoaib, the Taliban governor in Juzjan, is audiotaped instructing victims of the fire on how to drive out the jinn. He advises them to read the Holy Quran, boil water and sprinkle all 4 walls of the house from the inside. According to him, after this work, "shaitan will not appear for at least a week."
Bala Murdiyan is one of the remote villages of the Fayzabad district of the Juzjan province, where Uzbeks live.
