Mullah Yaqub, the son of Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban, and the current Minister of Defense of the Islamic Emirate called on Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to return military helicopters and planes hijacked by pilots of the former government of Afghanistan. After the withdrawal of Soviet troops in 1988, the country transferred to its territory most of the weapons and ammunition left by the Red Army. This time, with the fall of Kabul on August 15, 2021, into the hands of the Taliban, much of the US military equipment went to Pakistan.
