Colonel Akmal Amir, known as the “Ertugrul of Afghanistan”, has joined the Afghan Freedom Front (AFF).

Hindu Kush, April 30 - Sangar, Hasib Sangar. He fought in the Resistance Front during the Panjshir Wars and was outside of Afghanistan after the fall of the valley.

Trusted sources told the Sangar website that Akmal Amir joined the Afghan Freedom Front after a meeting with the front's commander, Mohammad Yassin Zia.

"Apparently, this agreement was reached in Iran, where Akmal Amir is located," the source said.

Mohammad Akmal Amir was born on February 23, 1991, in the province of Kapisa to religious figures and educators. He completed his primary education at Ezadar Shahid School and his secondary education at Mir Masjedikhan and Gholamhaydarkhan Schools in Mahmudraki City, Kapisa Province.

After graduating from school, he entered the law faculty of the National Military Academy of Afghanistan named after Marshal Fahim. For excellent studies, he won several medals, including those from the Tajik and US defense ministries, and a bronze medal in boxing competitions.

In 2012, after graduating from university, he was appointed prosecutor-investigator of the 205th Kandahar Corps and later went to work in the intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan.

In 2015, he began working in the department of ideology and culture, and later as an assistant to Major General Mohammad Amin Nasib, head of this department of the Ministry of Defense, and also received the rank of major.

In the last months of the republic, he was a colonel and head of the operations department of the 209th Shaheen Corps and distinguished himself in battles against the Taliban in the battles of the provinces of Faryab and Badghis.

After the fall of Kabul, Colonel Akmal Amir joined the Afghan National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud and commanded a group of former army soldiers in the Panjshir War.

After the fall of the valley, he established his base called "Amir's Base" in the mountains of the province of Kapisa and left Afghanistan.

He is fluent in Dari and Pashto and speaks good English. He is interested in Persian poetry and literature and sometimes also writes couplets and blank verses. He is a good orator.

Because of his popularity, he is called a general, and in honor of the character of the Turkish TV series “Ertugrul”, the name of the father of the founder of the Ottoman Empire, his friends call him “Afghan Ertugrul” for his determination.

The Afghan Freedom Front is another anti-Taliban front that has not yet made its command and programs public, but its forces are active in Afghanistan. The commander of the front is reportedly Mohammad Yassin Zia, a former chief of staff of the Afghan Ministry of Defense, but he has not yet confirmed this information.

According to unconfirmed reports, Yassin Zia is the commander of the northern provinces, and Massoud Andarabi, the former head of the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS), the commander of the anti-Taliban forces in Andrab, Baghlan province, and the leader of the Freedom Front is one of the former commanders of Unit 01 of the NDS, who is in the United States, but his name has not been released.
