The Taliban* suffered the heaviest losses in the clash with the forces of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan
HINDUKUSH, April 2 - Sangar, Hasib Sangari. This is the most intense fighting in Panjshir since it fell into the hands of the Taliban in September last year, causing the Taliban to suffer the heaviest losses.
Aminjan Hesaraki, commander of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, told the Sangar website that two days ago, on March 31, information was received at the resistance base in the Puni Valley of the Hesarak Valley of the Roha District, according to which a group of Taliban fighters numbering about 300 people from the province of Zabul, entered the region to attack the base.
“They drove to the end of the Hesarak Valley Highway, walked another two kilometers towards the Puni Valley on foot, and reached the camp where they spent the night. After receiving intelligence, our forces left the base and took up positions around it. The next day, Hamal 12 (April 1), at 1:30 noon, when it warmed up, our forces launched a surprise attack on the Taliban,” Aminjan Hesaraki said.
He added that a fierce battle ensued, during the first hours of which a large number of besieged Taliban fighters were killed.
“According to operational information, for the first time, the Taliban delivered the bodies of 12 of their dead to the Rukh hospital on two rangers. The battle is still going on. In general, the Taliban lost about 30 killed and 15 wounded**. Our forces were not affected. The resistance got 17 different types of weapons as trophies,” said Aminjan Hesaraki.
Video footage of hostilities released by the National Resistance Front:
Earlier, the press service of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan reported that during the clashes in the Puni Valley, 10 Taliban fighters were killed and at least 13 wounded.
The fighting in the Puni Valley has been the bloodiest in Panjshir since the valley was taken over by the Taliban last September.
The Panjshir War lasted a week in the first decade of September 2021 and ended with the defeat of the Afghan National Resistance Front in the main valley. The resistance forces retreated into the side valleys.
According to the National Resistance Front, about 400 people have died since the start of the Panjshir Wars, half of them were resistance fighters and civilians of the valley. About 2,000 Taliban have been killed and wounded in Panjshir so far.
