Why has the negative propaganda against the leader of the National Resistance Front intensified?

Author: Dr. Yaqub Lais Saffar

- Never before have resistance fighters gained political leadership so quickly as in the post-Republican era. During the jihad, Persian-speaking resistance leaders were prevalent in various Sunni and Shia parties. On the other hand, in the communist parties, the situation was the same - some were in Khalq, and some were in Parcham, Shula (Maoists), etc. Dispersal of Persian speakers during the period of jihad and during communist rule was such that two Persian-speaking brothers and two Persian-speaking families and neighbors were against and even killed each other.

- During the republic, the fragility of the one-man leadership in Jamiat-e-Islami was so great that the program of the late Ustad Rabbani was opposed to the program of Marshal Fahim. In the later years of the republic and in the second elections of the Ashraf Ghani era, the political leadership was scattered to the point where each city/district had its own leader.

- The appearance of Ahmad Massoud with the charismatic heritage of his father, courage and wisdom, and his own worldview gave rise to many hopes. Especially the younger generation, having grown up in the twenty years of the republic, considered his presence a treasure of the 15th century for resistance, although Massoud considers himself a servant of the whole country and all tribes.

The biggest exclusivity he has shown in more than a year and a half of resistance is his emphasis on a moderate Islamic government along with an emphasis on a national structure that includes all ethnic groups and political currents of the country. This exclusivity makes him the heir to more than a century of struggle for social justice. On the other hand, the nobility and the great ability and talent he has shown to unite the various political spectrum in the National Resistance Front is his great advantage.

- Another indicator of his leadership is the persistence of different generations of resistance, which has bridged the gap between them. Thus, two or three generations of resistance fighters from different nationalities and regions were united within the framework of the National Resistance Front.

- These leadership successes worried foreign and local enemies, who considered the case of Massoud and the Resistance Front to be over.

The first group is the Pashtunists, who see the National Resistance Front as a thorn in the eyes of their centralism and monopoly of ethnic power under a centralized government. Because the political program of the National Resistance Front and its theory of a decentralized political system is a serious competitor to the continuation of their centuries-old project.

- The second group is the Emirate of the Taliban, because of its national and international illegitimacy, considers the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud to be its main rival. Because this front showed that this is not a Facebook front, but a real front of resistance in the sphere of politics, militarism, and international relations. Therefore, the future of the country's policy is in its hands.

- The third group is Persian speakers who oppose the moderately Islamic government and for this reason, consider Ahmad Massoud as their rival from the point of view that he is neither secular nor anti-religious.

- There are also many hired and rented "mouths and feathers" who joined each other's hands to destroy the personality of this young and mature leader. They accuse Massoud's supporters of deifying him, which he absolutely does not need and which he never aspires to. Yes, he is not an angel, but a man, like all of us, but he is a real and reliable leader, whose purity and youthful innocence made him unexpectedly popular. There is no doubt that his honesty, vigilance, and wise leadership will neutralize this ugly propaganda.
