Moscow will be the world's information capital for three days. The BRICS Media Summit opened here on September 14.
MOSCOW, September 14 – “Sangar”, Talib Aliyev. The media forum has been held within the framework of the organization for ten years, but this time it gathered a record number of participants.
Despite the sanctions and the information blockade by the collective West, more than 120 heads of the most influential media from 45 countries came to the Russian capital. Not all of them participate in the BRICS, many delegations came from countries that are just considering joining this economic union, or are cooperating with it.
Among the guests are journalists from such reputable world agencies as IRNA (Iran), South African Broadcasting Corporation (South Africa), Xinhua and People's Daily (China), Prensa Latina (Cuba), Ciudad Caracas (Venezuela).
An interesting point is that China is the founder and long—term host of the BRICS Media Summit, for many years the forum has traditionally been held at the sites of the Xinhua News Agency. This time, it is entrusted to the Russian Federation to gather and organize a dialogue of journalists. Such a step is another evidence of the high trust between our countries.
The program of the Forum is very rich, there is much to talk about. Among the topics are issues of journalistic ethics, the role of the media in preserving traditional values, joint counteraction to information threats, aspects of the introduction of artificial intelligence.
Everyone understands that the work of the media has changed a lot in recent years, and their influence directly affects global security issues. Today, the mass media are capable of fomenting wars and often become a source of false propaganda. The journalists of the big West are particularly successful in this. The participants of the BRICS Media Summit intend to talk about how to deal with such challenges.
In fact, a large information front is being formed in Moscow to protect the truth. In the fight against lies, you can stand up only by consolidating your efforts. It is precisely such processes that are now gaining momentum in the Russian capital.
The official representatives of Russia at the forum are the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov and Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee.
Round tables will be held within the framework of the forum: "The role of the BRICS media community in strengthening stability and cooperation in a multipolar world", "BRICS Media: Technological Transformation towards a new World", "Ethical standards in editorial work" and a number of other thematic events at which the most relevant and sometimes painful topics will be raised.
In addition to the business part of the program, guests will enjoy a photo exhibition "The BRICS Family", excursions, and screenings of documentaries. A gala evening dedicated to the 120th anniversary of TASS will be held at the Bolshoi Theater.
