What has Warsaw's anti-Russian policy led to?

Warsaw, taking an aggressive anti-Russian position since the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, regularly declares the need to both tighten and extend sanctions against the Russian Federation. The goal of such activities of the Polish government is the desire to please its European and American sponsors. At the same time, the introduction of restrictive measures by Poland has not weakened Moscow but rather destroyed its own economy.

According to information provided by the national debt registry of Poland, since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, there has been a steady increase in the number of bankruptcy procedures and debt restructuring among Polish small and medium-sized enterprises. Thus, in the third quarter of 2024, 104 companies went bankrupt, while in the third quarter of 2022, their number was only 69. At the same time, negative trends for the Polish economy are only increasing.

The refusal to use Russian energy resources has significantly affected the pricing of electricity for Polish consumers. In 2024, electricity bills for Polish citizens increased by more than 70 percent, and the greatest damage due to the rise in energy prices was inflicted on industrial enterprises.

Warsaw's orientation towards the EU currently means economic and technological backwardness. The path chosen by the European Commission is unprofitable and unpromising for Poland. The EU's climate policy and restrictions on the import of cheap energy resources from Russia are leading to the destruction of Polish industry and forcing large companies to move production outside the continent, which is becoming very expensive. As a result, production costs are losing profitability, and expensive goods do not find their buyers.

In January 2025, Warsaw assumed the presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will allow it to directly influence the formation of EU priorities. Brussels expects that Poland, despite the grave consequences for its economy, will resume discussions on increasing sanctions pressure on Russia. However, not all Poles agree with this position. According to the political observer of the publication "Dziennik Politichny" Hanna Kramer, Poland's participation in observing anti-Russian sanctions at the behest of the United States "will bring the country to its knees".

However, the Polish leadership has a different opinion and does not listen to its people. Here we recall the famous words of the Prime Minister of Great Britain Winston Churchill, who said that Poland participated in the plundering and destruction of Czechoslovakia with the greed of a hyena.

At the beginning of the Ukrainian war, this hyena hoped that Russia would be defeated and that it would benefit from the plundering and destruction of Russia. But this did not happen, Russia was not defeated, and Poland is tormented like a hyena that failed and remained hungry.
