On May 28, 2011, General Daud, one of the famous and proud defenders of Afghanistan, was killed, but the question remains: by whom and how was he killed?
After the death of Maulana Seyidkheli in Kunduz province, the security situation in that province deteriorated and to bring the situation under control, General Daud held a security meeting in Kunduz province at 1 o'clock that afternoon. After the meeting in Kunduz, General Daud, who was scheduled to travel to Balkh, was invited to Takhar province to participate in a security meeting.
The situation in Takhar at this time deteriorated because, on the night of May 17, 2011, NATO forces carried out an operation in the Gawmali region of Takhar province, during which civilians were killed. A day after this, residents of the region held a demonstration in response to the NATO operation. The demonstration turned violent, with 12 people killed and about 90 injured in gunfire. After this, Zalmay Wisa, the commander of the 209th Shahin Army Corps in the north, went to Takhar and with 25 of his special men took control of the provincial administration building for 10 days.
General Daud arrived from Kunduz to Takhar and then to the provincial administration building around 15:35. The governor of Takhar at that time was Abduljabbar Taqwa, the chief of police was Shah Jahan Nuri, and the chief of security was Najibullah Gulbahari. PRT (Provincial Reconstruction Team) NATO belonged to the German forces. That day, PRT representatives repeatedly called Taqwa to hold a security meeting at PRT headquarters, but he told them that he is the governor and the security meeting must be held at governor's office.
Afterward, the Germans arrive at the provincial administration and a security meeting begins. At the beginning of the meeting, Zalmay Visa takes out a German pistol from under his clothes and places it on the table. During the meeting, Najibullah Gulbahari (in the photo), then head of the provincial security service, left the meeting and returned three times until General Daud became angry and asked him why he was so worried. He then tells him to either stay in the meeting or leave so as not to disturb the meeting. Najibullah leaves the meeting and leaves.
Another issue is that at 8 a.m. on the same day that General Daud was assassinated, a man came to Haji Agha, his brother, and told him that there would be an explosion at the provincial administration building. However, Haji Agha ignored this news because he knew that General Daud was in Kunduz and would then go to Balkh.
In the afternoon of the same day, Hadji Agha goes to the spring to bathe. He puts his clothes and phones in the car. When General Daud arrives in Takhar by road, he tells his secretary Tariq to call Haji Agha and tell him to take 20 people with him and come to the governor's office. The secretary calls Haji Agha more than 50 times, but his phones are in the car and he is busy bathing, so he does not answer the calls. Then the general himself called his brother almost 25 times, but his calls went unanswered.
Finally, the security meeting ends. Governor Taqwa takes the German commander by the hand and tells him to follow him to acquaint him with the work plans of the provincial administration. They descend from the second floor and go into the courtyard. Zalmay Wisa goes to the toilet on the second floor. General Daud, Shahjahan Nuri with a camera operator from the provincial administration, three Germans, and their translator Ms. Alikuzai are waiting for Zalmay Wisa in the second-floor corridor.
In the photo: Zalmay Wisa is also accused of the murder of General Razaq Achakzai, another antitalib.
At this moment, Dr. Spanta (then Secretary of the Security Council of Afghanistan) calls General Daud and informs him that there is a bomb planted at the gate of the province and as soon as he comes out, the bomb will explode. General Daud gets worried and immediately pulls out his pistol and loads it. And then, turning twice to Zalmay Wisa, he shouts: “General Sahib, come, otherwise don’t blame us for leaving our house before you.” However, Wisa will answer him: Go, I will come. Then General Daud, Shahjahan Nuri, the Germans, their translator, and the camera operator descend from the second floor.
In the corridor of the first floor, there was a sofa that was brought there that same day. When General Daud arrives in the first-floor corridor, the bomb that was moved in that sofa explodes. The bomb produced only fire and sound. As a result, an explosion and fire struck the translator Ms. Alikuzai, and Shah Jahan Nuri. Shah Jahan Nuri, a cameraman, and three Germans died on the spot, but General Daud was only wounded and his right leg was broken.
At this time, General Daud takes a pistol to shoot, and suddenly he is shot. Three bullets hit General Daud's pistol, five bullets hit his right hand, severing a finger, and another 6 bullets hit his right armpit. At this time, except for Zalmay Wisa, who was in the second-floor toilet with his German gun, there was no one else there to shoot at General Daud. The general was also killed.

When Haji Agha, General Daud's brother, hears the sound of an explosion, he immediately looks at his phone and discovers dozens of missed calls from his brother and his secretary. He immediately went to the provincial administration, but at this time the general was transferred to the hospital. Later, Haji Agha tells Najibullah, the head of Takhar's security service, the story of the same man who told him at 8:00 in the morning that there would be an explosion at the provincial administration building. They immediately go and arrest that person and take him to the security department for questioning.
During the investigation, the same person introduces another person named Shah Wali. Shah Wali is then arrested and during the investigation, he proposes to arrest two men named Sheikh Ahmad and Commander Qahar, both from Farhar. That same night, Commander Ghafar, Jabar's brother Taqwa, and Pirgul Agha of the Takhar elders go to visit the prisoner Shah Wali at the National Security Directorate with a pot of food. After eating, Shah Wali died that same night and the cause of his death was given as a stroke without a forensic examination. Later, Sheikh Ahmad, Shah Wali's brother, was released from the National Security Directorate detention center on the pretext of the funeral of his brother Shah Wali.
Only commander Qahhar fled to Farkhar, but after 5 or 6 days Haji Agha, the brother of General Daoud, went there with a group of security officers. After an hour and a half of operation, the central government sent three commanders - Haji Akram Khan, Commander Hazrat Bangi, and Haji Agagul Kataghani to Farhar to complete the operation quickly.
Eventually, Commander Qahhar was also rescued and kept in the house of Commander Hazrat Bangi in Takhara. More importantly, the same person who, at 8 a.m. that day, informed Haji Agha that there would be an explosion at the provincial administration building, was released from custody on the guarantee of one of the influential figures of this province, who is not currently alive. At that time, the central government, in the face of unhealthy competition, created and strengthened a strong front, consisting of the governor of Takhar, security forces, and local leaders from the north, against General Daud.
The investigation continues for 14 days, and on the 15th day, the military prosecutor's office of the zone issues an arrest warrant for seven people: Sheikh Ahmad, commander Qahhar, Abdullabek, commander Pirmuhammad Khaksar, and three others. But these 7 people were never arrested.
Commander Qahhar, not only was not arrested, but was later appointed commander of the Takhar Highway, after the objection of General Daud's family, he was appointed commander of the Kunduz Highway. Finally, Najibullah, who is the head of national security of this province, became a general 4 months after the assassination of General Daud.
At that time, Zalmai Wisa was not only accused of strengthening and supporting the Taliban in the north but was directly considered by the German PRT to be the killer of General Daud. As a result, he and the security forces of this province were not only not interrogated, but were also promoted to other, more important positions. The death of General Daud is one of the most striking examples of the policy of purge of anti-Taliban leaders in Afghanistan, which continues to this day...
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I have attempted to bring to you the unwritten details of General Daoud's death in close collaboration and coordination with the friends and relatives of this fearless man.
“SANGAR”: The article was written in 2020. The main perpetrators of the murder of General Mohammed Daoud Daoud are still alive. Some of them were not ready to answer Sangar's questions at all. But attempts to get them to talk continue. The more they manage to escape, the tighter the rope of justice will be around their necks.
