Attempts to limit the use of Persian speech and writing began a hundred years ago - from the time that Mahmud Tarzi, an aristocratic immigrant, came to Kabul from Damascus. He did not speak Pashto at all, he knew Turkish and Persian. But he constantly issued fatwas saying that Pashto was the "progenitor of languages" and that other languages were subordinate to him.
Tarzi communicated at home with his daughter Surayyo (wife of Amonullakhan) and her children in Persian and Turkish. In his life he did not write a single book or article in Pashto, he did not even translate them from other languages. On the pages of the newspaper "Siroj ul-Akhbor", which he published, he did not write a single note in the Pashto language.
Tarzi was a notable Persian writer. But promoted policies that supported Pashtun hegemony. Figuratively speaking, he tried to put Pashto on the Farsi elephant and sowed the seeds of propaganda of the superiority of the “ancestor of languages” in the cultural field of the country. What was the reason for such efforts by Tarzi? The reason was that a Taliban preacher repeats it today: subversive prejudice... Farsi has since become an undesirable language for Pashtun nationalism.
The history of the anti-Persian activities of Gholam Mohammad Farhad, Mohammad Gulkhan Mohmand, and other "savages", corrupt officials around Ghani is placed in dozens of books. History tears all the masks of the faces of such figures. But despite their efforts, the Persian whale swims calmly in the sea of life, being one of the symbols of the spiritual perfection of the people.
