Ambassador of Afghanistan to Tajikistan Mohammad Zahir Agbar told Sputnik Tajikistan that this meeting, entitled "Inclusive Political System: Models and Roadmap," is planned to be held on November 29-30 this year in the capital of Tajikistan at the initiative of the Institute for Strategic Studies of Afghanistan.
“Due to the fact that Afghanistan is under the rule of the Taliban and this group does not believe in meetings and negotiations, in general, in a peaceful solution to the crisis in the country through dialogue, the aforementioned meeting will not be held in the ancient city of Herat for the first time,” said Mohammad Zahir Agbar.
The Herat Security Dialogue series of conferences was first launched in 2014 in the city of Herat, the capital of the province of the same name in Afghanistan, with the aim of creating a space for dialogue to better understand the root causes of the 50-year-old conflict in Afghanistan.
The initiator of this conference, the Institute for Strategic Studies of Afghanistan, announced that through the exchange of various views, efforts are being made to reach an intellectual consensus among scientists, politicians in Afghanistan, the region and the sub-region.
The Ambassador of Afghanistan to Tajikistan said that based on the approach of previous years, experts and representatives of all groups and countries involved and interested in the Afghan issue will be invited to the conference this year.
“The Embassy of Afghanistan in Dushanbe and the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan will also take part in this meeting,” said Mohammad Zahir Agbar.
The Herat Security Dialogue Conference is one of the dozens of national, regional, and world-class conferences being held in response to the almost half-century crisis in Afghanistan, but there is no hope yet that the country will achieve lasting peace.
