A Taliban source reports the likely assassination of Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban interior minister, and leader of the Haqqani network.
KABUL, August 4 - Sangar, Farzam Kazemi. Earlier it was reported that after the attack by American drones on Ayman al-Zawahiri in the city of Kabul, Sirajuddin Haqqani, in order to avoid such attacks, fled with a large convoy of his militants through the Charkh district of Logar province to the province of Paktia, which is considered his main base.
A reliable Taliban source told Sangar that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban interior minister, and leader of the Haqqani network, was killed along with Zawahiri in a US drone attack in Kabul's Shirpur district.
“After the attack, no one saw Khalifa Haqqani, his phones were also switched off. To prevent the collapse of their regime, the Taliban keep Haqqani's death a secret and spread the rumor that he went to Paktia with 300 special forces", the source said.
On Saturday, June 30, due to an attack by American drones in the Shirpur district of Kabul, the leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist network, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was killed. Joe Biden, President of the United States of America, was the first to announce the news.
According to media reports, Ayman al-Zawahiri took refuge in a house or guest house belonging to Sirajuddin Haqqani, and when he went to the balcony of the house, American drones fired at him.
In the past, the US blacklisted Sirajuddin Haqqani, the leader of the international Haqqani terrorist network, and placed a ten million dollar bounty on his head.
At the same time, various sources from all over Afghanistan report an increase in American drone flights in the northern, southern, and southeastern provinces, such as Balkh, Kunduz, Paktika, Paktia, and Khost, Nangarhar, and others.
There are also reports that the Taliban leadership is very frightened since for three days the ministers of their cabinet have not appeared at work and are constantly changing their place of residence.
The Taliban are second to none in covering up the death of their leaders. They managed to cover up the death of Mullah Omar, the founder of the Taliban, for years. Even now it is not clear whether Haibatulla Akhundzada, their current leader, is alive or not.
Suppose the death of Sirajuddin Haqqani is confirmed. In that case, the situation in Afghanistan will also be predictable, but if the Taliban can hide his death this time, then this group will be able to keep its ranks from splitting.
