The Taliban came to power in Afghanistan for the second time two years ago, on August 15, 2021, after the Doha agreement. After the first Taliban fighter entered the Arg of Afghanistan, the flag of national resistance was raised in Panjshir under the leadership of Ahmad Massoud. Immediately, the provinces of Baghlan (Andraby and Khost), then Takhar, Parvan, Kapisa, and Badakhshan joined the geography of resistance.
Two years have passed since the popular resistance to the authoritarian rule of the Taliban, and during these two years, the war and resistance to this group continue.
We interviewed Mohammad Siddiq Andarabi, one of the commanders who witnessed the ups and downs of these two years of confrontation, but who never left his bastion.
IA Muqovimat: Mr. Andarabi! First of all, hello to you and everyone who believes in resistance for freedom. Thank you for taking the time to give an interview to the Muqovimat News Agency. I want to ask my first question: As one of the resistance members, what is your motivation to join the fight against the Taliban? What motivated you to go to the mountains and fight?
Siddiq Andarabi: In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Merciful! Greetings to you and the audience of the Muqovimat News Agency. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring to your audience and the world the voices of freedom fighters and those who believe in the dignity and pride of this land.
Our motivation is much broader and deeper than the Taliban think. We fight for freedom and an end to the occupation, using both pen and gun. We fight for peace. So that history and generations after us live in prosperity and freedom. Our country is occupied, and therefore disgraced. We have taken up arms to restore the honor of this land. Throughout history, foreigners came to our country for the purpose of occupation, our ancestors kicked them out, and the occupation ended. We got up and walked this holy path with the same motivation that one-day freedom will be achieved and the occupation will end.
The continuation of this cruelty and terror, when there is no will to live and live like a slave, gives the greatest motivation to a free and free-thinking person. Following the beliefs of the country's National Hero Shahid Ahmad Shah Massoud, who said: "Death with honor is better than life with humiliation", we are motivated and fight to the end.
IA “Muqovimat”: Naturally, the struggle is for one country and one geography. Do you think armed resistance to the Taliban will lead the group to a dead end?
Siddiq Andarabi: When the struggle is for the country and the honor of the land, the struggle and resistance must have different dimensions. But from my point of view, there is no better way than armed war against this group. This group believes in nothing but terror and war. They do not believe in humanity, nor in human rights and the principles of the sacred religion of Islam... In the structure of the National Resistance Front, everyone participates in their part of this struggle.
We are also determined to fight and resist any occupier, including the ruling terrorists. And it was this armed resistance that destroyed the calculations of the Taliban and all the equations of the world, which played on the fate of the Afghan people.
IA Muqovimat: As one of the commanders of the National Resistance Front, given your experience, how do you assess the combat effectiveness of the Taliban forces in the war? In your opinion, the National Resistance Front is able to fight in how many provinces at the same time?
Siddiq Andarabi: Not only me, but all the resistance fighters correctly understand the capabilities and combat capability of the Taliban. I can tell you with certainty that one resistance fighter is equal to 70 Taliban terrorists. You have also witnessed past wars. Between 7,000 and 10,000 armed Taliban attacked 20 to 30 resistance fighters in one region. They correctly know that the combat effectiveness and combat tactics of the resistance fighters are high, and accordingly, they concentrate the number of their combat forces more. But one important thing must be said: the Taliban group enters the war with the support of other terrorists, military equipment, and technology, and with the support and leadership of the Pakistani military.
We hope there will be no place for terrorists in our Motherland. They will soon be destroyed, God willing.
IA Muqovimat: Tell us a little more about the military tactics of the Taliban. Mostly from the media and sources, we hear that the Taliban are advancing in the territory of resistance, or they are putting serious pressure on the national resistance forces. What makes you leave the battlefield?
Siddiq Andarabi: As I said, the Taliban forces do not have any tactics on the battlefield. They have no military superiority, unlike us, because we have command posts and know geography. However, the difference between us and the Taliban is that they inspire fear and terror, while we die for the well-being and happiness of people. After the Taliban terrorist group is defeated on the battlefield or before starting a war with the national resistance forces, they torture, abuse, and harm the locals. So that innocent people and residents of the area around which the war is going on do not suffer, we either retreat or do not start a war.
IA Muqovimat: What, in your opinion, are the two-year achievements of the National Resistance Front? It's been two years and what have you achieved?
Siddiq Andarabi: One of the main military achievements of the National Resistance Front is that the geography of resistance has expanded to more than 20 provinces, and frontal and guerrilla operations are actually carried out against the Taliban terrorist group. Today's and yesterday's wars in several districts of Badakhshan, Khost, Andrab, Kapis, and Parvan, as well as guerrilla operations in the corners of Afghanistan, most of which are not announced through the media. Naturally, the elders and leadership of the National Resistance Front also carry out their work in different areas. By the grace of God, we have reached the place we should have reached at the national and international levels. National resistance has gained legitimacy at the global level, and today the whole world knows and appreciates the position of the Afghan people against the Taliban terrorist group.
IA Muqovimat: Mr. Commander! We want you to tell our readers one of your memories of resistance. Naturally, you have hard days, cold winters, and hot summers. The severity of war...
Siddiq Andarabi: Naturally, one who considers himself a fighter experiences ups and downs in his life. Sometimes there will be days in life that truly become a memory. I recalled one incident, and perhaps this is my most interesting memory. On the night of July 17, 2022, we fought the Taliban until morning, along with the late commander Zubair. Commander Zubair really fought heroically and was martyred next to me. I lived for 4 days being wounded, thirsty, hungry, and hiding in the mountains. After 40 days, when I recovered a little, I went to the place where he was buried. I saw that a grave had been prepared for me too. People were looking for me to be buried there. Martyrdom is the best blessing of God, which is given to the redeemed and pure servants of God, and I am sincerely grateful to God, who gives life and death.
