The Taliban set fire to the three-story house of the Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mohammad Zahir Agbar, in Panjshir.

DUSHANBE, June 12 - Source: Sputnik Tajikistan. After the capture of the Panjshir Valley by the Taliban, this house turned into their military base.

In confirmation of this news, Mohammad Zahir Agbar told Sputnik Tajikistan that the fire in his house in the villages of Piyavasht, Rukha district, Panjshir province, started at 18:00 yesterday, June 11, and is still ongoing.

“This is the house of my father's legacy, which we built in 1998 during the first resistance with financial assistance in the amount of 4.5 thousand dollars from Amir Sahib Ahmad Shah Massoud and by hashar (village residents participated in its construction). The house may be on fire, but our soul and will cannot be burned,” said the Tajik Ambassador to Afghanistan.

After the Taliban took over the Panjshir Valley in September 2021, Mohammad Zahir Agbar's house was turned into a Taliban base where a Kandahar commander named Sayad was with his men.

Zahir Agbar says that the biggest asset of this house is the sports club that they built for themselves, their relatives, and their neighbors to train.

“I don’t know if this club has been optimally used in recent years. But the home of all of us in Afghanistan is burning in the flames of ignorance and oppression. The Taliban should know that houses can be burned down, but the spirit of resistance to oppression and terrorism is invincible,” said the Tajik ambassador to Afghanistan.

This is not the only case of arson of oppositionists' houses in Panjshir. In January of this year, the home of Fazl Ahmad Manavi, the former government's justice minister and one of the leaders of the Afghan National Resistance Front, was set on fire.

Manavi's house is also located in the village of Piyavasht, Rukha district, on the third floor of which there was a large library. In both cases, the Taliban prevented people from putting out the fire.
