The Russian foreign minister says the US opposes the armed struggle of the anti-Taliban forces, but supports ISIS and al-Qaeda.
DUSHANBE, June 06 - Sangar, Firdavs Nizom. This statement was made in a speech by Sergei Lavrov during his visit to the 201st Russian military base located in Dushanbe.
The Russian Foreign Minister said that having let the Ukrainian regime off the “chain”, continuing to pump it with the most modern weapons, the West is constantly looking for additional directions from which to “irritate” the Russian Federation, open the “second” and “third” “fronts”.
“Many political scientists and politicians have already openly declared the goal of dismembering the Russian Federation. One of these "fronts", along with the Transcaucasus, is declared (still behind the scenes, but everyone knows this) Central Asia. Difficult events are taking place in Afghanistan after the flight of the “coalition”, which for 20 years has not done anything for the creative development of the Afghan state and only left it in a state of increased threat of terrorism, a sharp increase in drug trafficking. From there, it spreads all over the world," Sergey Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister reacted to the statements of the US Ambassador to Tajikistan Manuel Micaller that the Americans do not want to support the anti-Taliban forces by some kind of forceful method, they supposedly want the entire Afghan people to hold a national dialogue, reach an agreement on how to live in one country and then overcome all the deepest problems inherited, including 20 years of occupation of the country by the US and its allies.
“These are, speaking in the language of diplomacy, false statements. It is known for certain that the United States actively supports ISIS surviving in Afghanistan and Al-Qaeda and other terrorist structures affiliated with them. The goal is simple. Just as they acted in other cases in the Caucasus at the end of the last decade, the goal is not to allow Afghanistan to calm down," said the Russian Foreign Minister.
He said that the destabilization of Afghanistan is in favor of the United States and added that the Americans are always looking for some kind of destabilizing processes to take place in Afghanistan all the time and it is no coincidence that they do not leave the thought of returning their military infrastructure to neighboring countries.
“As if in order to respond beyond the “horizon” to terrorist threats. Make “muddy waters”, then “catch fish” here, “get in” here and again continue to prevent the countries of the region from living their own way, imposing on them, under the pretext of such threats that they themselves largely create, their American “rules”, oh which they speak at every turn, completely flouting international law enshrined in the UN Charter,” Sergei Lavrov said.
Referring to Tajikistan and Central Asia, where the 201st base of Russia is located, he said that this “point” is very serious and the vigilance shown by the Russian military and their colleagues in Abkhazia and South Ossetia is absolutely justified.
“You can expect anything from these leaders of the United States and other Western countries (whom Washington has completely crushed under itself)," the Russian Foreign Minister concluded.
On June 5-6, Sergei Lavrov visited Dushanbe and met with the leadership of Tajikistan, including President Emomali Rahmon.
The 201st base, the largest Russian military base abroad, was created 80 years ago (1943) as a motorized rifle division and became a military base in 2004 under an agreement between Tajikistan and Russia. This agreement was signed in 2012 and will be valid until 2042.
Since February 1980, the 201st Rifle Division, as part of the 40th Army of the Soviet Union, has participated in hostilities in the provinces of Kunduz, Takhar, Balkh, Baghlan, and Samangan of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
