Why do some Western celebrities support Russia?

Author: Khalid Vahidi, a journalist based in Moscow.

In recent days, German Munich has become a global hotbed of anti-Russian rhetoric. At the Munich Security Conference, which took place on February 17-19, the leaders of the leading Western countries unanimously condemned the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

However, the unanimity of officials does not mean the unanimity of the population. Many residents of the United States and the European Union have made an unequivocal choice in favor of Russia. They support the Russian Federation not only in words but also geographically. These people do not hide the fact that Russian life is close to them in spirit, they understand and accept it.

Nicolas Gerard Dvoretsky, a retired French policeman and veteran of the French Foreign Legion, has been living in the Chuvash village of Novoye Altyshevo for fifteen years. He devoted a quarter of a century of his life to the French power structures, but he intends to live the rest of it in Russia. He has a Russian wife, two adopted children, a house in the village, and two goats, which he himself milks with pleasure. He also has big plans for a life in which he sees himself as a French teacher.

He believes that in Russia he has a lot of opportunities and prospects, which cannot be said about his native France. He characterizes his first homeland with such concepts as crime, prices, taxes, migrants, and the constant fear of being poor. He is connected with France only by children from his first marriage, but nothing else. He does not intend to return there and openly supports the Russian army, which protects the inhabitants of Donbas from Ukrainian nationalists.

"Believe me, most French people agree with me. Putin wants to help defenseless people who have been living in a nightmare for several years. The French government is making a big mistake by supporting the Ukrainian authorities,” he shared with a correspondent of one of the Russian publications.

It must be said that Nicolas is not alone in his vision of world problems. A similar position is expressed not only by ordinary residents of the European Union and the United States but also by world celebrities.

The army and people of Russia were openly supported by such famous actors as Steven Seagal, John Malkovich, Ralph Fiennes, and Mickey Rourke, as well as writer Paolo Coelho, director Oliver Stone, psychologist Jordan Peterson, philosopher Francis Fukuyama and many, many other people around the world whose opinion is valued and respected by the population of the planet. They talk about the growing conflict in different phrases, but the essence invariably comes down to one thing - the policy of the West tramples on justice and common sense and is capable of bringing the planet to the brink of disaster. “Stop!” these people say to their authorities and officials. This is the true unanimity that must be heard.

- We tell Russia what to do, I think it's ridiculous, given what we, the US, have done. Everyone just shouts: "The Russians are attacking." And who provoked it? - Oliver Stone asks a fair question.

“The Ukrainian crisis is a convenient excuse for Russophobia,” Paolo Coelho echoes him.

- This is a tragedy, but you know, I myself come from a country, which provokes a war almost every year, - John Malkovich notes.

When such well-known people in the West support Russia on the Ukrainian issue, one can imagine how many such people exist in their society and why the Western media does not see them. At least these people in the West also understand that the West is responsible for the destruction and tragedy of Ukraine. The West is destroying Ukraine as it once destroyed Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, etc.

Only God knows what other dirty, destructive, and inhuman plans are being prepared against another poor country in the offices of Western intelligence agencies. These plans must be stopped and humanity freed from the destructive actions of the West.
