Will the Taliban sit down at the negotiating table and share power with them?

Author: Mahfouz

Hanif Atmar and Masum Stanikzai, two senior Pashtun officials in the Karzai and Ghani governments who played a principled and active role in expanding Taliban and ISIS activities and taking the war to northern Afghanistan, after a year of effort, put these people on the list under the pretense of joining an inclusive Taliban government and called their movement Justice and Peace.

Do these two mysterious figures believe in justice and peace, and have they done something in the two decades of Karzai and Ghani that was a sign of peace and justice? The fair answer is no. True seekers of justice and peace may wonder what the logic behind the people included in this list, especially non-Pashtuns - Tajiks, Uzbeks, and Hazaras - believed in the desire for justice and peace of these two supporters of the Taliban and agreed with them.

How do the Hazaras, Uzbeks, and Tajiks listed on Atmar and Stanikzai's Justice and Peace Movement list ignore or forget the massacres, genocide, forced displacement, imprisonment, violation of human rights, especially women's rights, and other crimes of the Taliban, and joined with these two supporters of the Taliban? The memory is still fresh that these two criminals played a key role in the fall of the republic and the rise to power of the Taliban. They are complicit in all the crimes of the Taliban and the recent devastation and disaster in Afghanistan.

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, well-known Pashtun figures (Ihwanis, communists, democrats, technocrats, nationalists, and so on), including Atmar and Stanikzai, did not even react to the crimes of the Taliban and did not criticize them. How can non-Pashtuns believe in the false promises of these two scammers and their efforts to achieve “justice and peace”? The answer is very clear: the non-Pashtuns, "companions" of Atmar and Stanikzai, included in this list, are devoid of political wisdom and human emotions and are like sheep who have chosen the most ferocious wolves as their shepherd.

On the other hand, none of these people are currently in Afghanistan and all have fled abroad...
