The forces of the National Azadagan Front of Afghanistan captured the area in the province of Khost, the main base of the Haqqani Network, and then left it.
KABUL, May 3 - Sangar, Farzam Kazemi. This is the first time that anti-Taliban forces have captured a district in Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power.
Abdufattah Adib, a spokesman for the Azadagan National Front, told the Sangar website that it was an important multi-faceted operation to seize the Alisher district of Khost province in southern Afghanistan, which had completely come under the control of the anti-Taliban forces.
“Our fighters, having occupied the district administration building, killed its head along with 11 people under his command. And also a large warehouse of weapons and ammunition, which was located on the territory of the district administration, was seized. Our fighters took everything they could with them, and the rest was completely destroyed along with several Humways tanks and Ranger vehicles,” he said.
According to him, none of the resistance fighters and civilians were injured.
“Azadagan Front fighters seized the district administration building after an hour-long battle with the Taliban, held it for about five hours, and then left it and returned to their strongholds with military trophies and weapons,” said Abdufattah Adib.
Khost province is the homeland of the Haqqani Network, the most violent wing of the Taliban, whose founder Jalaluddin Haqqani and current leader Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban interior minister, are from the province.
At the same time, the source reported a guerrilla attack by Azadagan Front forces in Kabul province yesterday, May 2, as a result of which two Taliban were killed.
“It was a sudden attack on the Kabul-Parvan highway in the Qarabakh region of Kabul province, as a result of which weapons and ammunition of the dead Taliban also fell into the hands of the partisans of the front,” Azadagan Front spokesman said.
According to him, the fighters of this front also blew up the "ranger" vehicle of the Taliban, transporting drugs, on the Gargari-Zaranj road in Nimroz province. The video of the incident shows how the Taliban car with all its passengers is destroyed.
The Afghan National Azadagan Front is the second anti-Taliban front after the Afghan National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Massoud. It was founded in October last year under the leadership of Dr. Suleiman and began the fight against the Taliban government.
