Sangar’s sources in Taliban intelligence reported the detention of a woman on the border of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
MAZARI SHARIF, November 19 – “Sangar”, QARI AHMAD. This incident occurred on the same day as the arrest of a group that the Taliban claimed wanted to blow up the Kush Teppa canal dam.
Previously, some Afghan media published similar news citing their sources in Taliban intelligence but did not publish anything about the details of the detention and the characteristics of this group.
Meanwhile, according to Sangar's source, whose brother serves in Taliban intelligence in the Kaldar region of Balkh province, this group consisted of armed ISIS members and two of their local collaborators.
“During the inspection, the members of this group introduced themselves as members of ISIS and citizens of Central Asian countries, and two of their colleagues as Uzbeks Balkh province. When the Taliban detained them, they had 10 mines with them,” the source added.
According to the source, these people admitted that another group came with them to the border zone and took refuge in the forests of the Amu Darya between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
“The Taliban sent about a hundred people to the area, including police, national security, and Omari forces, as a result of which another person, a woman from Ukraine, was arrested,” the source said.
According to him, when this news reaches the Taliban provincial security department headquarters in Mazari Sharif, special forces immediately arrive in the Kaldar district and take the detainees with them.
“They did not admit that their goal was to blow up the Qush-teppa canal or cross the border with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Ukrainian woman said nothing and pretended that she did not know local languages at all,” the source said.
Moreover, despite the fact that Taliban sources present this woman as a citizen of Ukraine, her photograph provided to Sangar from another source shows that she is holding a Russian passport. It is impossible to read her name and other information about her in the passport.
These detentions come as a few days ago Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, announced the creation of a special military unit to protect the Kush Teppa Canal, its personnel, vehicles, and equipment.
Previously, at a meeting in the Ashraf Gorge, Tala va Barfak district of Baghlan province, the ISIS leadership in northern Afghanistan announced that it would send a group of 20 suicide bombers to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
