Sputnik Tajikistan sources report that after a joint operation by Tajik security forces in the Vanch district, a group of six terrorists crossed the border, one drowned while fleeing in the Panj River, and the remaining three fled to Afghanistan.
“Identification of one of the two dead has been established. He was a resident of the Yazghulam region, apparently, he was the leader of this group. The other person killed is also a citizen of Tajikistan, but his identity has not been established. At least he is not from this area,” the source said.
Meanwhile, a Sputnik Tajikistan source from Afghanistan reports that three of the group were arrested by Taliban intelligence in the Nusai district and handed over to the Taliban Security Directorate of this province in the city of Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan.
"They are under investigation," the source added.
Earlier, the press service of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan reported that this morning, April 26, as a result of a joint operation of the security forces of Tajikistan in the Vanj region, two members of an international terrorist organization were killed, who entered Tajikistan from Afghanistan with the aim of committing terrorist acts.
According to the source, these people crossed the state border of Tajikistan and Afghanistan at the protected area of the 11th border outpost of the Darvaz Border Detachment in the village of Dashti Yazgulom, Vanch district of GBAO.
“Due to a joint anti-terrorist operation by law enforcement agencies of the republic, the terrorists were neutralized. At the scene, 2 Kalashnikov assault rifles, 2 foreign-made pistols, 8 hand grenades, 12 magazines with cartridges, 19 packages of explosives, 2 special communications equipment, and 2 mobile phones belonging to terrorists were found and confiscated", the source said.
Meanwhile, according to sources from Sputnik Tajikistan, it is still unknown to which group these terrorists belonged, including Jamaat Ansarullah or ISIS. Of the six people who illegally crossed the state border of Tajikistan, four of them, including two who died, are citizens of Tajikistan, and two others are citizens of other countries.
According to these sources, the terrorist who drowned in the Pyanj River was not a citizen of Tajikistan.
