In the modern world, only the capitalist system rules. The capitalist system is based on "profit". “Profit” and “more profit” are an identical part and existential meaning of capitalism.
This system determines friends and enemies based on its interests and even determines legitimacy and democracy in other countries.
One of the instrumental categories of this system over the past 70 years has been “terrorism.”
Before the collapse of the Soviet Union, the capitalist West associated the word "terrorist" only with anti-colonial communist and liberation movements.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, they created all types of Islamic terrorism, the purpose of which was to expand the dominance and influence of the capitalist system in the world.
Meanwhile, there is no difference between liberal democratic and authoritarian capitalism, because the nature of capitalism is anti-democratic, anti-human, and authoritarian.
The capitalism of the United States of America and its allies or even China, Russia, India, Iran, etc. all define their friends and enemies based on the "profits" of capital, not moral or value criteria.

Dealing with the Taliban or other so-called terrorist groups is akin to sleeping with "prostitutes", as Zbigniew Brzezinski defined during the Cold War about the mujahideen: Islamist groups are like communists and not only do not threaten the capitalist system, but they are part of the global ruling systems.
So, when different countries deal with the Taliban and do not value opposition fronts, the reason is that these resistance groups cannot protect the interests of major powers as the Taliban can.
In these relations, there is a place for instrumental concepts of democracy, individual and social freedoms, and social justice!
