A Sangar correspondent on the scene reported that on 3 Huta 1400 AH (February 22, 2022), Taliban forces attacked the bases of the National Resistance Front (NRF) forces in the Duab area of Shutul district, Panjshir province.
Hasib Panjsheri, one of the NRF commanders, told the Sangar that they had become aware of the Taliban's plans four days before the large-scale operation.
"According to our information, in this operation, about 700 Red Brigade and Badri fighters, in cooperation with about 5,000 local, as well as Kandahar and Helmand Taliban, based in Panjshir, were simultaneously supposed to attack the resistance bases in Manjaur, Abdullakhel, Dara, Shaba, Hessae Avval, Annaba and upper bases of the valley. Mullah Yaqub, the Taliban Minister of Defense, led the operation, but in the late afternoon, they retreated from the areas of Murghi, Arzu, Duaba, and the villages of Istifal, Chashmae Ab, and Ruydara of the Shutul district. Mullah Yaqub also returned to Kabul,” Hasib Panjshiri said.
Nine Taliban fighters were killed in the operation, he said, including Mullah Izzatullah, a Red Brigade deputy commander from Shah Walikut, Kandahar province. Of the fighters of the NRF, two were killed - Abdulazim Tufan, a resident of Panjshir, and Matin Gozargah, a resident of Kabul.

The correspondent of "Sangar" reports that during the clashes, the Taliban shot dead a young man named Wahidullah, the son of Mullah Abulmajun, a resident of the village of Istifolu, Shutul district, who was grazing his cattle in the mountains, with sniper weapons.
“Wahidullah's brother was the first to join the Taliban. He himself is wounded. Wahidullah's body lay on a high mountain for two days. He was found, brought, and buried,” he said.
The correspondent of "Sangar" reports that of the total number of Taliban detachments sent to Shutul, only 25 of them remained in the Ruidara mosque, and the rest left the area.
“Heavy snowfall and foggy weather caused the Taliban to abandon the operation in Panjshir. According to the information, they intend to resume air and ground attacks in the coming days,” he said.
The valley or district of Shutul is the beginning of Panjshir and is located on the left side of Dahanai Panjshir, the entrance to the valley from the western part - the province of Parvan. Resistance Front fighters under the command of Hasib Panjshiri and Wazir Shutul are in the Shutul camp.
