What awaits the world and Afghanistan?

Author: Ahmad Saidi, an analyst on Afghanistan and regional issues (Germany), especially for Sangar

For two or three weeks I could not write an analysis of the situation in Afghanistan and the world because of the problems that tormented me. Today I have a small chance, I want to share my point of view with you.

In the first stage, which way is the world heading?

Global analysis in the current era requires special attention to economic, political, and security factors. In this article, I try to review the global movement in these two key areas and the situation in Afghanistan to the extent possible.

1 - Competition between world hegemons

Competition between major powers such as the United States of America, China, Russia, and the European Union has increased significantly. These competitions are bringing the world closer to crisis every day. These competitions influence the global economy, international security, and world order and undermine and diminish them every day. Each of these powers is trying to expand its influence in different regions of the world, which could affect major changes in global economic security and even immigration and cultural policies.

2 - International calls

The United Nations is currently unable to do what it should have done. The UN is currently held hostage by five veto-wielding world powers. On the other hand, the world is facing important problems such as climate change. immigration, terrorism, and broken economies that impact global sustainability. These problems require international cooperation and coordination to find effective solutions. Human crises and regional conflicts have also complicated these problems, which are becoming more acute every day.

3 - Technology and digitalization

Technological advances such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things have dramatically impacted global economic, political, and social markets. Digitalization has led to changes in business models, economic development, and changes in international trade policies.

4 - Changes in demographic and social structure

Demographic changes such as population growth and aging, as well as international migration, have brought new challenges to government, economic, political, and security policies. These changes require effective responses to maintain economic and social stability in countries worldwide.

The actions that some Afghan or non-Afghan immigrants are doing in some European countries, these countries are gradually becoming interested in not accepting immigrants anymore and they are turning every movement of immigrants into a terrorist aspect and taking them seriously.

5 - Diplomacy and international cooperation

Diplomacy and international cooperation are vital for resolving crises, developing and maintaining world peace, and helping poor countries. International organizations and multilateral agreements are key instruments in this direction. But they failed to deliver as expected.

But what specific issues are most important right now?

- War between the oppressed people of Palestine and Israel:

This conflict has enormous human, economic, political, and fatal security consequences, and its resolution requires sustained diplomatic efforts.

- War between the Russian Federation and Ukraine:

This crisis has affected not only the region, but also global markets and as well as economic, political, and security politics.

- US Presidential elections:

The results of this election could lead to major changes in the domestic and foreign policy of the United States of America, which will have a major impact on the economy, security, and global politics.

And about Afghanistan:

After three years of Taliban rule, Afghanistan faces serious challenges in the political, economic, social, cultural, and security spheres:

Girls' education: Girls' lack of access to education is severely limited and has even reached zero. They can only go to religious schools and read what the akhunds and mullahs say. This situation has had a great negative impact on the economic, political, and social opportunities and security of the country, since women's education plays a vital role in the development of society and improving the quality of life from which we are deprived.

Ban on Women's Labor: New Taliban laws banned women's economic and professional activities. This reinforces serious gender inequalities and causes enormous damage to the national economy.

Social Issues: Since the Taliban came to power, there has been increased concern about human rights, individual freedoms and the social situation in Afghanistan. Women's rights, access to health care and education, and economic challenges are among the issues that point to the need for an effective and global response.

Cultural Challenges: Afghanistan faces complex cultural challenges due to its rich cultural history and ethnic diversity. Recent war and instability have resulted in damage to cultural heritage and disruption to public life. The preservation and revival of this heritage, and the preservation of cultural identity are of great importance in the current situation.

Taliban Governance: The Taliban's mode of governance has a major impact on the political and economic stability of Afghanistan. The Taliban's actions in governing the country and interacting with the international community could affect the future of Afghanistan.

International Recognition: The Taliban's relations with the international community and how they interact with other countries play an important role in Afghanistan's economic and political future. Positive interaction with international organizations can help improve the economic situation.

Not only Afghanistan but also Pakistan will then be the center of tension, the center of the growth of terrorism, and the center of crisis.

Conclusion

The future of the world is associated with many difficulties in the economic, political, social, and security spheres. To correctly predict and provide adequate responses, we need effective international interaction and cooperation, as well as a detailed analysis of these events. The situation in Afghanistan is also heavily influenced by issues related to girls' education, women's ban on work, and legal issues regarding social and cultural freedom of expression, and requires close attention and action to achieve stability and progress.

But now, with each passing day, Afghanistan is becoming isolated, and the international community does not agree with the current method of governance, and there are fears that gradually after the American elections, someone or others who come to power may reduce aid to Afghanistan and the economic situation becomes more critical.

Although we still have some time left for the fourth meeting in Doha, we hope that stakeholders such as the Taliban, the international community, and the Afghan people will reach an agreement that can see Afghanistan as the common home of all Afghans.

Otherwise, we are moving in a direction where the future will be very difficult and crisis-ridden.
