After the brother-in-law of Mavlawi Amanuddin, the governor of Badakhshan was raped, a nurse committed suicide.
Kunduz, April 4 - Sangar, Jamshid Badakhshi. This is not the first and, apparently, not the last case of rape of women and girls by the Taliban in Badakhshan and other parts of Afghanistan.
A reliable Sangar source in Badakhshan reports that Sayyid Muzammil, the son of Sayyid Najmuddin, known as Dr. Muzammil, the head physician of the Chakaran hospital, the center of the Varduj district, raped a nurse named Shukrane Najmullah's daughter, after which the girl committed suicide.
“Muzammil gave sleeping pills to another nurse to put Shukrana to sleep. When she was put to sleep, he raped her. The incident took place on the tenth day of the holy month of Ramadan around 23:00 at the district hospital. After regaining consciousness, Shukrana tried to throw herself from the second floor, but her colleagues prevented her from doing so,” the source said.
According to him, the next day, Shukrana took poison and lost consciousness, after which she was taken to the Faizabad city hospital, the center of Badakhshan province, but she died at 10 am on April 3.
“She was the daughter of Najmullah, the commander of a popular uprising, who was killed in the confrontation with the Taliban under the command of Mavlawi Amanuddin during the republic,” the source said.
He added that Shukrana was about 17 years old, was the sole breadwinner of her family, and was recently engaged.
“When this incident happened to her, she did not tell anyone, and before poisoning herself, she sent an SMS to her relatives on the phone that he was raped by Dr. Muzammil and her betrothed here nothing to do with”, the source said.
This is not the first and, apparently, not the last case of rape by the Taliban and people close to them of defenseless girls and women. In October last year, Sangar reported on a spate of rapes of women and girls and widespread moral decay of the Taliban in districts of the Raghs region of Badakhshan. One of these cases was the adultery of a Taliban with his wife's sister.

After the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, cases of rape and sexual harassment by militants of this group have increased, but most of the cases are not covered in the media. Previously, "Sangar" recorded more than 10 cases of individual and group rapes and forced marriages only in the Dara district of Panjshir province.

One of the horrific incidents happened not so long ago in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, when, according to media reports, one of the civil activists was raped by 35 Taliban over the course of 16 days and nights. Through the mediation of the elderly, she was released and she, alone, without a family, reached Iran.
On 28 February, two members of the Taliban broke into a house in Khanaqa village, Savmaqala district, Saripul province, and raped a mother and her two daughters, who were under 18 years old.
According to media reports, in the city of Ghazni, three armed Taliban raped a girl in the area of Sarai Sadat, an auto repair shop. The guard informed Taliban intelligence and all three were arrested, but because they were connected to the Haqqani network, they were released by the efforts of the Ghazni police.
So far, there are no reports that the Taliban have been punished for rape and sexual harassment, although they claim to be building an Islamic emirate and imposing Sharia that punish such crimes with death.
Also, Dоctor Muzammil, the brother of the first wife of Mavlavi Amanuddin, the governor of Badakhshan, was not arrested or punished. According to reports, he now took refuge from the wrath of the inhabitants of Varduj in the house of his sister's powerful husband.
