Tajik-Persian culture in Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented challenge and Mohammad Khatami, the former president of Iran, calls the Taliban government a threat to this culture, but years ago a soldier of this culture fought for it and was martyred, but other countries supported the “Taliban”... What Ahmad Shah Massoud said was clear for a few people and now the situation is beyond comprehension!
From Mohammad Hossein Jafarian, an Iranian journalist
Once he was on the front lines against the Taliban, when he was leading an operation, for example, directing the artillery to aim which part of area. Suddenly our discussion about classical and “white poetry” escalated. He did not like “white” and new poetry very much. I gave him arguments and read some lines from the “white poetry” of Afghanistan. He liked them very much and the discussion became very serious. At the same time, the war was going on and he needed to command the operation.
There were a number of generals and military commanders there. They kept pointing me out and saying: “Finish the discussion that Amir Sahib should lead the operation!” However, he kept asking questions, I answered, and the discussion did not end.
Eventually, Mullah Qorban, who was very close to Massoud, was persuaded to tell Ahmad Shah Massoud to end the discussion. He came to us and said: “Amir Sahib, it’s not time to discuss on literature, it’s operation time!”.
The Afghanistan National Hero said in response to Mullah Qorban: "Don’t you understand that all of this operation is for the literature?"
