During the forty days that I was with Dostoyevsky's "Idiot", I took great pleasure in knowing the character of Prince Mishkin, and after that, I will always try to be an idiot, like Prince Dostoevsky: simple, but at the same time, complex.

A novel of all times and nations...
Finally, after forty days, Dostoyevsky's "Idiot" lets me go...
Perhaps this is a recurring claim that Dostoevsky is, in my opinion, the greatest writer in all of history. After each Dostoevsky book I read, I bow more and more to this power of creativity. "The Idiot" is a Christian story that teaches us that living as Christian is the wrong way to go in our time. Of course, it seems that Dostoevsky initially intended to defend some simplicity by creating the image of Prince Myshkin as a simple young man and a symbol of all that is good, but sick (with epilepsy, like Dostoevsky himself), but in fact, we see that modern society is much more cruel and complex to let honesty and simplicity be so attractive...
The protagonist of the story, Prince Mishkin, is a poor, helpless and simple young man who returns to Russia after an illness of epilepsy and has neither relatives nor acquaintances, but the hand of time brings him together with difficult people.
This story is written for all times and all nations, in which it shows all people who are most concerned with their own interests. Love and greed are seen in the characters, and how well Dostoevsky did in describing them!
During the forty days that I was with Dostoevsky's "Idiot", I took great pleasure in knowing the character of Prince Mishkin, and after that, I will always try to be an idiot, like Prince Dostoevsky: simple, but at the same time, complex. Anyone who has a clear problem with himself and the world accepts what is. Although he suffers from many emotional hardships and makes many sacrifices, it is precise because of these sacrifices and forgiveness that others call him an "idiot"...
One of the most interesting things about Dostoevsky's stories is that he describes the characters in such a way that we understand that there is no room for judgment and that everyone can behave unexpectedly under certain circumstances.
I must not leave it unwritten that Dostoevsky was in the worst mental and physical condition when writing this book, but he very beautifully described in it all the experiences, hardships, and worries that he had in his life. Excerpts from the book, which you can read if you wish; about execution, the philosophy of life and death. It was very attractive and exciting...
